Blood cancer, also known as hematologic cancer, is a type of cancer that affects the blood, bone marrow, or lymphatic system and occurs when blood cells do not develop properly. The most common blood cancers are, Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma1 and these cancers disrupt the production and function of blood cells, which are vital for the body’s overall health.
Blood cancer is the fifth most common cancer in the UK, with over 41,000 people diagnosed annually. It is estimated that there are around 250,000 people living with blood cancer in the UK.2 But the good news is, treatment for blood cancer is constantly improving as are survival rates.
However, life after a cancer diagnosis can be both emotionally and physically exhausting, leading many to seek a much-needed getaway or break from the hospital cycle whenever possible, either during or after treatment. This can cause a lot of worry and anxiety for those hoping to go on holiday because not only can it be difficult to find travel insurance with cancer cover but when you do, the premium quoted could be more than the cost of the holiday!
However, our travel insurance policies can consider cover for blood cancer as well as a range of other medical conditions and cancer types.
When purchasing a policy from Insurancewith, you will benefit from:
Cover levels may vary depending on the policy you choose. For full details of the protection available, please get a quote or refer to our policy documents.
It can be confusing trying to understand travel insurance policies and ensure they are suitable for your circumstances. Insurancewith helps with this, by being able to offer a range of policies specifically designed by people who have experienced cancer themselves first-hand, for those with a cancer diagnosis.
We work differently to the rest of the market. Our founder, Fiona, found that often travel insurance policies for people with cancer either weren’t accessible or were expensive – often costing more than the price of the holiday itself!
At Insurancewith, our team specifically assess your condition using a medical risk assessment tool called Protectif, which enables us to get a deeper understanding of your circumstances and, where possible, offer you a policy, that is suitable for your needs, at an appropriate price.
We can consider cover even if you have recently been diagnosed with blood cancer, had chemotherapy, radiotherapy or targeted therapy in the last few months including:
Although we ask a few more questions than other providers, getting the right kind of cover on your travels is important.
We have also put together a blood cancer signs and symptoms infographic. Click here to download and share it with your friends, family and travel companions.
Some of our policy benefits include:
We will consider covering all cancers. Shown below are the most common types that we are asked to cover. However, if your particular cancer is not shown, don’t worry, because you can still get a quote by entering your type of cancer when prompted during the quote process and proceed from there.
Alternatively, you can call our Customer Service Centre on 0333 005 1066 and they will be happy to process the quote for you.
